Anne Frank wrote her diary while she was locked in an attic (right?), but Irene Nemirovsky wrote a fictional account of what was taking place around her. This novel could have been depressing and dark or it could possess a bit of hope, a reason for living. I think that this novel represents Irene Nemirovsky's way of grieving, being fearful, etc. during this terrifying dark time in history.

Nora--
My problem with the cover is that it is a photograph, so I think that it is a still taken from a film. In addition, bestseller and movie seem to go together in my mind so I feel deceived by the cover.Erinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14317015762119705717noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4538129977758741654.post-5815500792683438232008-04-18T01:09:00.000-06:002008-04-18T01:09:00.000-06:00do you think that the book is a national bestselle...do you think that the book is a national bestseller because its a safe mimic of peoples emotions during war time?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05168665855700295197noreply@blogger.com
